Gin gin mule recipe: Summer's most refreshing cocktail
Oh my gosh I love a mule so much.  The spicy ginger, tangy lime and, um, minty mint make for the most refreshing drink I can think of.  Throw in an ice cold copper mug and a hot Summer day and I’m in heaven.  I’ll take a Moscow Mule if it’s on the menu but, to me, real perfection involves swapping the vodka for the super-clean, faintly herbal bite of gin.

I once confused a bartender by ordering it this way and he ended up making his own and passing it around to the rest of the waitstaff. Minds were blown.

We bought our copper mugs from Amazon and, while they’re pretty sweet,  a Mule is just as tasty in a rocks or highball glass.  Make it this Summer

Ingredients

  • 10 mint leaves
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • 1 1/2 oz gin
  • 2 oz chilled ginger beer

Instructions

Add mint to a copper mug or rocks glass. Muddle gently with a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon. Add simple syrup, lime juice, and gin and stir. Fill the glass with ice cubes and top with ginger beer.

[…] You know you’re on vacation when you’re debating when to switch from coffee to cocktails.  That afternoon we visited Fountainhead Square, an up-and-coming neighborhood right outside of downtown.  Our first stop was Hotel Tango, an artisan distillery.  I was really impressed by their friendly staff, warm atmosphere, and their GinGin Mule.
